Challenger School of Sports & Fitness Dress & Grooming Guidelines

Our staff believes that appropriate dress and good hygiene contribute to a safe, positive, and productive learning environment. Students are encouraged to wear tennis shoes every day so they can safely participate in physical fitness activities.

Challenger PRIDE Expectations

Champions are Prepared, show Respect to everyone, have Integrity, are Dependable, and make sure Everyone’s Safe.

Safe and Appropriate Clothing

• Clothing and grooming must be safe, modest, and not disrupt learning.
• Hairstyles are permitted when they do not create a health hazard, safety risk, or disruption to the learning environment.
• Clothing and accessories may not display hate speech, profanity, weapons, drugs, alcohol, tobacco or vaping products, sexually inappropriate content, or other inappropriate images, symbols, or language.

Coverage and Fit

• Clothing must fully cover the chest, midriff, buttocks, and undergarments at all times.
• Shirts must cover undergarments, including under the arms. Low-cut shirts and crop tops are not permitted.
• Pants, shorts, skirts, and skorts must be long enough to cover the fingertips when arms are held at the sides. Rips or holes must meet the same standard.
• Shorts must be worn under skirts and under clothing with excessive rips or holes.
• Oversized or sagging clothing that exposes undergarments is not permitted.

Footwear, Jewelry, and Accessories

• Closed-toe shoes with a closed or strapped heel are required.
• Sandals, flip-flops, open-toe shoes, slippers, Heelys, steel-toe shoes, and other unsafe footwear are not permitted.
• Jewelry and accessories must be safe. Items that could cause injury—such as spikes, chains, oversized or dangling earrings, wallet chains, or belts and chains hanging from the waist—are not permitted.

Grooming and Personal Items

• Temporary tattoos displaying obscene or profane content, violence, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, or other inappropriate images, symbols, or language are prohibited.
• Personal hygiene items, such as lip balm, may not be shared.
• Cosmetics, perfume and cologne should not be applied at school.

When a Student Is Out of Dress Code

Students may be required to change. Families may be contacted to bring a change of clothing, or school clothing may be provided when available.
