Meet our Principal
Mr. Alsbury has been with Victor Elementary School District and Challenger for the past 14 years. He began with the district as a 6th grade teacher and taught grades 4th and 5th, before transitioning into Principal six years ago. Originally from Kalispell, Montana, Mr. Alsbury attended a career fair where he was drawn to VESD, specifically Challenger due to its emphasis on sports. As much as he enjoyed teaching he made the transition to an administrator, because he wanted to be able to reach children throughout the whole school.
He began his career in education by substituting and volunteering during his time in college. Although he originally went to college to be an accountant, teaching was always in the back of his mind. After having conversations with his old basketball coach and meeting with the Head of Education for the University of Montana, he thought about his teachers throughout his own schooling and how different teachers had a positive impact on him. He realized how much he wanted to help children and changed his major in order to pursue the path of becoming an educator.
Mr. Alsbury has a Bachelor’s in Liberal Arts from Oregon State University, a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Montana, and earned his Administration Credential through National University. When he’s not at Challenger, he enjoys spending time with his family, participating in wakeboarding, waterskiing, wakesurfing, golf, coaching his children's sports teams, drawing, and relaxing with his wife, 3 kids, and Dodger; their family dog.
