Harvest of the Month

Harvest of the Month
Challenger School of Sports and Fitness strives to promote and instill healthy lifestyle choices within their students. One of the ways Challenger hopes to do this is with a “Harvest of the Month” theme that highlights a different fruit or vegetable each month. Through this program the students are able to be actively engaged in learning about different fruits and vegetables by tasting the food, writing about it, and using their five senses to describe it. During January the Harvest of the Month was the fruit blood orange. Mr. Alsbury said the students were surprised that the blood orange tasted like a regular orange.
Students are encouraged to be healthy through the use of brag tags and sports cards to be rewarded when students are seen eating fruits and vegetables. Each of the students receive lanyards that are described as Challenger Champions where they are able to collect the brag tags and place on the lanyard. The students can receive brag tags for a range of accomplishments and it provides students motivation to try to collect all of portions.
